It's All About Lappy Shirt Project

The Debut of the Shirts

April 11, 2006

Jason and Christina – Boulder, CO

"My fiance and I met Karen at about 6:10 last night at Pepsi Center and got our It's All About Lappy Shirts. Since our seats are on the Avs shoot twice end we thought we would make our way down to the other end of the arena to watch the warm-up skate. We went down to the first row of 104, right next to the Av's bench. There were about a half dozen other people in IAAL shirts right by the bench. There was another group comprised of Karen and a few of her friends behind the Av's goal sporting their shirts. Once the players came out it clearly took Lappy a few minutes to see all the people wearing shirts. It seemed like Hinote saw them first and pointed them out to Lappy.

Lappy looked a little embarrassed and was definitely getting teased by Hinote and Liles who kept skating up to Lappy and gesturing with their sticks towards the different groups of people wearing the shirts.

Finally, Hinote and Sakic skated over towards the bench. Hinote sort of turned him towards the group of us that were at the end of the bench. Sakic looked at us and read the shirts (I could see his lips moving, mouthing the words) and just shook his head and laughed while Hinote was saying something to him. It was pretty funny. You could tell that everyone was ribbing Lappy about it but he had a huge grin on his face all through the warm-up.

Thanks again to Karen for all the hard work. I hope you sell a few hundred more and raise lots of money for Ronald McDonald House."

"I wore my It's All About Lappy shirt and was lucky enough to catch Lappy's eye.
I yelled 'It's All About Lappy' at him and he winked at me!
I know that sounded so giddy childish, but it was way cool."

"I really am happy with my Lappy t-shirt. I took it to the Eagles game last night and Terry took a picture of me wearing it to send to you.  I even got comments on it after the game by people at the table with the owner of the Eagles, Ralph Backstrom and the coach, Chris Stewart."

"...we love ours and wore them to the New Year's Day game against the Nashville Predators.
We were by the Avs bench where he was warming up. He looked up and saw us, smiled really big, and said, 'Hey Guys.' All the Avs fans at the game wanted to know where we got our shirts so we let them know right away..."
