The Real Winners

(from the Official Website of the Philadelphia Flyers - 8/4/11)
A day full of 'fun in the sun', a softball game, autographs and meet & greets certainly gave Flyers fans from all over, but particularly in Stone Harbor N.J. something to experience and get excited about for the upcoming 2011-12 season.
But the real winners of such an important day are the American Legion - Post 331 on the Island. They will receive a check for $5,000 raised during the event.
On behalf of Flyers charities, members of the Philadelphia Flyers in attendance for the check presentation were (from left to right): Flyers prospects Brandon Manning, Tom Sestito and Harry Zolnierczyk, forward Ian Laperriere, Stone Harbor Mayor Suzanne Walters, Jim McCrossin and his wife Robyn, American Legion Post 331 members Al Carusi and Kevin Coyle and Flyers prospect Tyler Brown.
Trial on the Isle
The Philadelphia Flyers held the annual Trial on the Isle on July 8th in Stone Harbor, NJ. The Trial on the Isle was an exciting training day as part of mini-camp for the Philadelphia Flyers prospects.

This year's mini-triathlon was held on the town's streets and beaches, and consisted of a three-mile bike race, a 400-yard paddleboat race, and a 1 1/4-mile run, with each member of the three-man team competing in one event. Part of the progression Friday included lunch and an autograph session with fans at Stone Harbor Elementary School, and a softball game against the Stone Harbor Stars.
All money raised from the autograph session and admission to the softball game goes to Flyers Charities and the American Legion Post 331 in Stone Harbor, which distributes the money to families of fallen veterans.
