Ian Laperriere in the Community
2005-2006
"He's a guy that really cares – that's the most important thing. I always tell my son and my kids that it's always better to be known as a good person than a good hockey player, and the best thing about Ian Laperriere is he's a good person."

Avalanche Players Team Up For Tykes
(from the Official Website of the Colorado Avalanche)
Avalanche players Ian Laperriere, Rob Blake and Karlis Skrastins, along with other local athletes from the University of Denver, participated in the Teaming Up For Tykes holiday party on Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
Teaming up for Tykes is a collaborative effort of the Colorado Avalanche, the Avs Better Halves, Amber Homes, and the Tavern Hospitality Group.
The party was for 500 women and children from more than 20 Denver-area shelters. The women and children received coats, shoes, socks, toiletries, teddy bears, toys, baby diapers and other baby supplies.
The diapers were collected at the Avs Better Halves 8th Annual Diaper Drive. The athletes served food, handed out teddy bears and player cards, and posed for pictures with the children.
Joining the Avs players were the Avs Better Halves, University of Denver hockey players Gabe Gauthier, Matt Carle, J.D. Corbin and Peter Mannino, and Santa Claus.
