Trading Places

(from the Official Website of the Colorado Avalanche)

ColoradoAvalanche.com recently posed the following question to a handful of Avalanche players:
If you could trade places with any person in history for a single day, who would it be and why?

Ian Laperriere: "Bono from U2. He goes out of his way as far as humanitarian work goes. It's not for money or attention, because he has plenty of that due to his music. He does so many great things around the world and goes out of his way to help people. That's remarkable for a person who has everything in life."

Lap-Land

(from the Calgary Herald, 2/26/08)

Colorado RW Ian Laperriere doesn't mind fighting. He doesn't even mind losing. He just wants a little respect – hence, his throat-clearing after Monday's bout with Edmonton D Mathieu Roy

"I didn't appreciate it when he kept punching when I was down," Laperriere told the Edmonton Journal. "He's not the only one. I can't just blame him. It's around the league. I think it's disrespectful. You see it with young guys. I told him he shouldn't do it, and I think he understands."

Roy said he just got excited. "I should have stopped. After it was over, I said, 'Holy smokes.' I respect the guy a lot, and it's good I can fight a guy with that name."
