Ian Laperriere Named "Beauty of the Week"
(from Old School Hockey, Inc. - 2/1/10)
The epitome of a professional. That is one simple sentence that can define "Lappy". He is one of those guys that won't show up on the scoresheet too often...or actually he does show up quite a bit but it's just usually listed under the PIMS category... but teams are dying to get him in their dressing room. He brings a leadership quality to the 'room' that is rare to find in this day and age and is something that can't be taught. Lappy is a born leader and is someone that is always looked to when things get tough. The most defining quality of Lappy, however, is his love for the game...

Flyers 1 - Wild 2
Ian Laperriere contributed 2 blocked shots and 1 hit as the Flyers ended their road trip with a loss to the Wild on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
Upon returning home to 28.5 inches of snow in Philadelphia (official measurement at the airport) later that night, Kevin Kurz posted the following on the team's Twitter page:
"Not surprisingly, Ian Laperriere and Danny Briere are last to leave parking lot making sure every last person is dug out of the snow."

Lanzi Takes Care of Flyers' Dental Needs
(from the Philadelphia Daily News - 2/9/10)
Dr. Guy Lanzi had seen worse facial trauma. In the years he has been associated as an oral surgeon at Cooper University Hospital, he has peered into the faces of high-speed car-crash casualties. Occasionally, he has been confronted with heartbreaking cases of physical abuse, even instances when he has been called upon to care for the victim and the assailant. While he does what any physician does in such circumstances - which to say, do what he has been trained to do and get down to work - it is not uncommon for him to later contemplate "the horribleness" of what he just encountered.
So, yes, the Flyers' oral surgeon had seen worse in the realm of face trauma than when forward Ian Laperriere headed back to the dressing room what is euphemistically called "repairs" during the first period of a game against Buffalo last November 27. Laperriere had blocked a puck with his mouth and it had left him with a bloody hole where some of his teeth used to be. Immediately, Lanzi thought, "What a mess." The doctor could see that the 16-year veteran was "upset and hurt," yet he asked at question that is not uncommon among in these situations: "When can I get back in the game?"

Early Fight Sparks Flyers Against Habs
(from CSNPhilly.com - 2/13/10)
Four seconds.
That's all it took for the Canadiens to respond to Friday's melee after the final buzzer of a Flyers' 3-2 victory in South Philly.
Four seconds for young 25-year-old Ryan O'Byrne to drop the gloves with a 36-year-old Canadien favorite, Ian Laperriere.
The Flyers' grinning center dropped O'Byrne like a bag of rock salt with an overhand right to the face...

Ian Laperriere Named Number 4 Tough Guy of the Week
(from FOXSports.com's NHL Tough Guy Tracker - Week 20, 2/17/10)
An NHL tough guy isn't necessarily someone who goes out and beats the snot out of an opponent every night. Sure, goons like that still exist in the league, but an NHL tough guy is more than that. He is a player who will not only stand up for himself and/or his teammates, but will also play through and dish out pain or a game-changing check whenever his team needs him to do so. In the heat of the battle, sometimes players not known for their toughness get in on the action and either turn some heads or get their heads bashed in.
Each Wednesday, FOXSports.com's NHL Tough Guy Tracker spotlights those players and some of the best scraps from around the league.
Number 4: Size didn't matter last week in a fight between Philadelphia's Ian Laperriere and Montreal's Ryan O'Byrne. Right after the opening draw on February 13, the stocky Laperriere took on and conquered the much bigger O'Byrne, sending the mountain-sized defender down to the ice after a series of vicious right crosses.

A player's true worth cannot be determined by his number of goals and assists alone. A classic example is Philadelphia Flyers' winger Ian Laperriere...
Tough Guy Tracker: Toughest So Far
(from FOXSports.com's NHL Tough Guy Tracker - "Best Of" List - 2/24/10)
FOXSports.com combed through all their previous lists and figured out who has been a tough guy the most this season. Ian Laperriere came in at Number 9.
Number 9: "Lappy" has been a fan favorite in all five of his NHL stops for his grit and determination, as well as his willingness to mix it up. The 36-year-old forward has been one of our Tough Guys six times this season, but Punch Imback gave him the No. 1 spot one week this past December when he returned to a game against Buffalo after receiving more than 50 stitches and losing seven teeth thanks to a slap shot he took to the face.
Tough Guy, Eh?
Excerpt from "When Are Running Backs Over the Hill?"
(from CSNPhilly.com - 2/26/10)
Ian Laperriere knows what it means to be a tough guy. And while most tough guys know how to take a punch in the face and keep going, Laperriere experienced much worse than that, and refused to let up. Someone's taking notice.
In a look at the action prior to the Olympic break, FOXSports.com named Ian Laperriere as its No. 9 tough guy for the season, having made six appearances on its weekly "Tough Guy" list. However, Laperriere was helped quite a bit by his No. 1 overall ranking during the week in which he took a slap shot to the face, lost seven teeth, and returned to finish the game.
If that's not tough, we don't know what is.
