Laperriere Shows His Toughness

...Fear never had been part of Laperriere's hockey vocabulary.
Avalanche fans know that well enough. For four seasons in Denver, "Lappy" was the beloved stuntman of the Avs. If there was a puck coming his way, he'd block it, no matter where it might hit or how bad it might hurt. If there was an opponent in need of a knuckle sandwich, Laperriere was only too willing to drop the gloves, no matter the tale of the tape. If something needed to be said in the dressing room to fire up the boys, he was happy to get his Knute Rockne on...

Ian Laperriere added 4 hits and 1 blocked shot in his 11:53 of ice time, as the Flyers defeated the Blackhawks on Friday, June 4, 2010, sending this best-of-7 series back to Chicago tied at two victories apiece.

Late in the first period, the Blackhawks thought they had an advantage when they got their top line out against Flyers' fourth line. But the trio of Ian Laperriere, Blair Betts and Darroll Powe kept Chicago pinned in its own zone. Laperriere started the sequence by blocking a shot in his own end and then laying a big hit to get the Hawks scrambling in their own end.
