Flyers 1 - Wild 2
Ian Laperriere contributed 2 blocked shots and 1 hit as the Flyers ended their road trip with a loss to the Wild on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
Upon returning home to 28.5 inches of snow in Philadelphia (official measurement at the airport) later that night, Kevin Kurz posted the following on the team's Twitter page:
"Not surprisingly, Ian Laperriere and Danny Briere are last to leave parking lot making sure every last person is dug out of the snow."

Ian Laperriere Named "Beauty of the Week"
(from Old School Hockey, Inc. - 2/1/10)
The epitome of a professional. That is one simple sentence that can define "Lappy". He is one of those guys that won't show up on the scoresheet too often...or actually he does show up quite a bit but it's just usually listed under the PIMS category... but teams are dying to get him in their dressing room. He brings a leadership quality to the 'room' that is rare to find in this day and age and is something that can't be taught. Lappy is a born leader and is someone that is always looked to when things get tough. The most defining quality of Lappy, however, is his love for the game...
Flyers 3 - Flames 0
Ian Laperriere took the ice for 22 shifts and delivered one hit during his 14:25 of ice time, as the Flyers shut out the Flames at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, February 1, 2010.

Fresh Chiclets
Ian Laperriere was tired of waiting. After having seven teeth knocked out against Buffalo on Black Friday, Nov. 27, Laperriere has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a shipment of specially molded teeth. Yesterday, Laperriere was excited to show off his new gibbers.
"They must have come in an armored car this time," Laperriere joked.
Last week, an empty box showed up at the Flyers' training facility. It was supposed to have Laperriere's new bridges inside. Instead, it turned out that his teeth were stolen during a shipping stopover in Louisiana.
Back in November, Laperriere lost seven teeth and required 75-to-100 stitches to repair his lip after he dived on the penalty-kill and got caught in the face with a slap shot. With the way he plays, it's a good thing this set is removable. Laperriere said he will look for a permanent solution once he retires.

Bully For You
NHL reporter Adrian Dater ranks some of the league's top fighters:
Most willing: Ian Laperriere, Flyers. Is there anyone in the league the former Av hasn't fought?
"I don't know exactly why for the increase (in fights around the league)," said former Avs winger Ian Laperriere, now with the Flyers, "But I know I still find partners to dance with, even back East."
Laperriere is tied for third in fighting majors, with 16. Tampa Bay's Zenon Konopka is the leader at 20. And despite the loss of frequent fighter Laperriere over the summer, the Avs are sixth this season in number of fights, at 42. Calgary (54) and Philadelphia (50) lead.

Laperriere Sparks The Flyers
(from the Philadelphia Inquirer - 1/24/10)
The Flyers needed a wake-up call. Ian Laperriere gave it to them.
With his fists.
For the second time in the last three games, Laperriere energized the Flyers with a fight as he helped them outlast the lowly Carolina Hurricanes, 4-2, at the Wachovia Center yesterday...

(from CSNPhilly.com - 1/23/10)
The second period had degenerated into total boredom.
Flyers coach Peter Laviolette had already called his only timeout without positive results.
Which meant it was "Lappy Time."
The Flyers' toothless champion of the underworld dropped his gloves, and gave Carolina's Tom Kostopoulos a thrashing...

Ian Laperriere - Fights vs. Andrew Alberts and Tom Kostopoulos
Besides his two fights, Ian Laperriere also delivered 4 hits in the Flyers' victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday, January 23, 2010. The Flyers improved to 3-0-0 on their longest homestand of the year, with six games in 12 days at the Wachovia Center.

(from The700Level.com - 1/23/10)
Energy man Ian Laperriere knew what to do next.
Not long after the timeout, Lappy dropped the gloves with Tom Kostopoulos and just wailed on him a few times. He showed little regard for his punching hand, hammering away on Kosto's helmeted head until he fell to the ground. Once on the ice, Kostopoulos winced away to shield himself, but Lappy had already pulled up from his defenseless foe, showing his open hands.
The cameras would later show, with Steve Coates narrating, Lappy yelling between penalty boxes to Kostopoulos that he didn't need to worry, he wouldn't hit him when he was already down. What a gentleman, that Lappy.
The fight, Laperriere's second of the game after chopping former Flyer Andrew Alberts down in the first period, was the perfect complement to Laviolette's timeout (stick taps to the great HockeyFights.com for always getting these posted so quickly). The Flyers were much more aggressive after that, and quickly netted a pair of goals to close out the period.

Teeth Thief? Someone Swiped Lappy's Teeth
(from CSNPhilly.com - 1/21/10)
...Seems seven of his teeth that form two bridges were stolen en route to Philadelphia.
"They must have thought they had gold in them," Laperriere said at the morning skate, as the Flyers prepare for Thursday night's game against the Rangers.
"I'm so angry. The box came and it was empty. When you're 20 years old and you lose some teeth, it's okay, now you look like a hockey player. But when you are 36, it's not so cool...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAPPY!!
Ian Laperriere - 1 Assist and Fight vs. Mathieu Roy
Laperriere set up Carcillo for his fifth goal of the season at 9:12 of the third. Carcillo took a pass near the offensive blue line, turned and fired a 50-foot wrist shot.
"You have a two-goal lead like that and you let it slip, you want to bounce back as quickly as possible," Pronger said. "Lappy had the good fight there to put the momentum back on our side, kind of get things rolling."

Tooth Fairy
Maybe if he had some teeth Ian Laperriere would actually get something under a pillow. Anyway, he and Kimmo Timonen hosted a large group of youngsters Friday at the movies in Voorhees to see an advance screening of the movie, "Tooth Fairy," about a minor league hockey player who becomes an enforcer. Billy Crystal, Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews star in the film.

Laperriere Does It All For Streaking Flyers
(from the Times Herald - 1/13/10)
Gordie Howe only had it happen once in his storied hockey career, yet his name is forever linked to the accomplishment.
When a player scores a goal, picks up an assist and drops the gloves to get into a fight is forever known in hockey lexicon as a 'Gordie Howe hat trick.'
Ian Laperriere had the first hat trick of that unique kind for the Flyers in nearly two years, and it was the kind of effort that vaulted his team to a thorough, 6-3 dismantling of the Dallas Stars...

Signs of times
There are a number of index cards around the dressing room hanging in player stalls with a headline and quote from American war heroes to Presidents. Each card has a word and quote under it.
"Leadership" hangs under Mike Richards' stall. He's the team captain. "Discipline" hangs under Dan Carcillo, to remind him to keep his temper in check.
"Loyalty" hangs under Simon Gagne, who has been with the organization the longest. "Honor" hangs under Ian Laperriere's stall because he's always willing to defend the honor of his fellow teammates.
Laperriere Stars in Flyers' 6-3 Win
(from the Burlington County Times - 1/12/10)
Ian Laperriere makes a living blocking pucks, not putting them in the net.
But the Flyers' journeyman utility player does have offensive skills, both with the disk and with his fists.
Laperriere recorded the Flyers' first "Gordie Howe hat trick" - a goal, an assist and a fight - in nearly two years Tuesday night, sparking the Flyers to a 6-3 victory over the Dallas Stars...
Flyers 6 - Stars 3
Ian Laperriere - 1 Goal, 1 Assist, Fight vs. Mark Fistric, and First Star of the Game
Right winger Ian Laperriere had what is commonly called a Gordie Howe Hat Trick - a goal, an assist, and a fight - as the Flyers raised their record to 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Lappy has recorded at least a point in four of his last five games - 5 points (2G, 3A).
This marked the fifth Gordie Howe Hat Trick of Laperriere's career and the first for the Flyers since March 28, 2008 at New Jersey (Randy Jones - 1G, 1A, 1 fighting major).
