(from The Gloucester County Times - 8/30/10)
Eight weeks of learning about nutrition, better eating habits and exercise routines culminated this week for a group of kids when Philadelphia Flyers right-winger Ian Laperriere joined them for their final workout.
As the five kids gathered around in a semi-circle of chairs in a conference room at Virtua's Health and Wellness Center, they sat in awe as the Montreal native Laperriere told them about his fitness routine and favorite foods...

Lappy & Co. Take in Gettysburg
(from the Official Website of the Philadelphia Flyers - 8/16/10)
Ian Laperriere stood at the top of Little Round Top and wondered what the Civil War battle must've looked like over 145 years ago.
"It was great to walk on the same ground that the soldiers did a long time ago," said Laperriere. "But it was special to share that with my oldest [son]. It was just special to be there..."

Flyers' Laperriere Ready For New Season
(from NHL.com - 8/5/10)
A trip to the Stanley Cup Final has left Ian Laperriere hungrier than ever to win a title. Taking a puck to the face during last spring's playoffs has left him vowing to wear a half-shield for the rest of his NHL career -- but not to quit the fighting aspect of his game.
"I will always play with a half-shield now," Laperriere told the Philadelphia Flyers' website this week. "The difference is when I fight now I will take off my helmet. I am going to have to fight. The shield won't make a difference..."
Catching Up With Lappy

Last week Ian Laperriere was nice enough to answer some questions for "It's All About Lappy" and fill us in on how his summer is going. We are very grateful for his time.

Do you still find time to train while you travel?
"Yep we plan our hotel around gyms that have the equipment that we need."
What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming season?
"To a great start and another run at the Cup."
Is there anything else you would like to say to the Flyers fans?

Favorite Flyers Moments
(from the Philadelphia Daily News - 6/11/10)
Personally, my favorite memory came in Game 3 against the Bruins in a contest the Flyers actually lost.
Ian Laperriere, his face still disfigured from blocking that shot less than 2 weeks before, was shown on the Wachovia Center scoreboard and he received an ovation for the ages. The overwhelming reception nearly brought Laperriere to tears, and the well-traveled grinder would later say that he was caught off guard because he had only been a Flyer for "7 months and I didn't think they'd know who I was." Actually, Ian, they'll never forget you.

9. Ian Laperriere Returns From 'Brain Injury'
And you thought Belanger and Keith were tougher than nails? Philadelphia's Ian Laperriere blocked a shot with his head during the Flyers' opening round series against New Jersey and suffered what was later described as "a brain injury." And he still managed to return to the lineup to help the Flyers on their way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Insane? Perhaps. But still tough.
