LOOKING TO SCORE: With a crooked nose and a mean streak, Laperriere never will be mistaken as a finesse player or a prototypical scorer.
But no goals and one assist in eight playoff games?
Laperriere knows he has to be more productive if the Avalanche is going to have a chance to fight back from a 3-0 series deficit.
"I want to help the team offensively more than I've been doing since the playoffs started," he said before Game 3. "But they want me to be physical out there and do my stuff. I'll do whatever they want me to do."
When Laperriere signed with Colorado as a free agent, Avalanche fans knew they were getting an experienced leader who would play a physical style.
Little did anyone know he would be such a productive scorer, setting career marks for goals (21), assists (24) and points (45) in one season.
He also did the dirty work, leading the team with 116 penalty minutes and 12 fighting majors.
"You'd like him to provide an element of intensity, grit," Quenneville said. "We saw it all along all year and in the playoffs. We still expect him to bring some emotion and intensity to our team game."

"It's still a game," forward Ian Laperriere said. "Just go out and relax, play with the puck and have fun, and hope it carries over into the game. Maybe relaxing will provide us with a different result. We just need to do the simple things. Put the puck on net and go hard after rebounds. Fancy plays haven't worked."
