It's All About Lappy Shirt Project

How it all began...

Back in 2004, when Ian was still a member of the Los Angeles Kings, I thought it would be fun to have a Lappy shirt made since I was a big fan, so I started looking around online at some of the custom shirt sites.

I didn't know what I wanted it to say, but I knew that  "I ♥ Lappy" wasn't really my style...

(and probably wouldn't go over too well with the husband).  :)

I found one option that said "It's All About (insert name here)" which I thought it was pretty original (and probably wouldn't offend my dear Timbo...)

I chose the gray and purple to go with the Kings colors.

It was after I ordered the shirt that I decided to make a little Lappy webpage and I named it the same thing.

In June 2004, my mom and Tim and I went to a signing where Lappy was making an appearance with Luc Robitaille.  I decided to wear the shirt so that Lappy could see it.

As soon as he saw it, he said "Hey Lucky...check out her shirt!"

And then Luc said in kind of a bored way "Oh yeah...my wife has one just like it."

Lappy then said "Yeah, you KNOW she does!" It was hilarious.

Then a month later, he signed with the Avalanche.

And I was sad.

After the lock-out, I continued to wear the shirt to the games in Los Angeles and Anaheim when the Avs came to town.

At the Kings/Avalanche game in March, the Altitude camera crew saw me and my shirt when my mom and I were sitting by the Avs tunnel and showed a clip of me during one of the intermissions.

I had no idea they were filming me until I got home and saw a message from my good friend in Nebraska, who had recorded the game.

A few other people on the Avs message board recognized me and the shirt from this website, and word spread from there.

I started getting messages from people asking where they could get shirts like that.

At first I just thought it was funny and I wasn't going to pursue it...but then I kept getting more and more requests.

I didn't feel right about selling them, until I had the idea to make it a project for charity.

Some friends in Denver talked to Lappy for me after practice one day to ask which charity he would like us to support, and the rest is history.

(Thanks Terry and buGG!!)

The first batch was done in time for the last home game of the 2005-06 season.

We brought about 20 shirts with us to Denver for that last game, and we got a great reaction during warm-ups.

People have thanked me for doing this, but I'm thrilled to be able to give something back in Ian's honor as a way to say thank you for all that he's done for both the community and for the fans.
